Rep. Bob Latta, who represents Ohio’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of messages on social media this week marking national observances and encouraging community engagement.

On February 16, Latta posted a message in recognition of Presidents’ Day: “Honoring the legacy, wisdom, and service of those who have led our nation. Happy Presidents’ Day! As we look toward America’s 250th anniversary, we reaffirm our commitment to a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.”

Two days later, on February 18, he acknowledged Ash Wednesday and its significance for many in his district: “Today marks the beginning of the Lenten season for many across northern Ohio. It is a time for reflection, prayer, and a renewed commitment to serving others. Wishing a meaningful and blessed Ash Wednesday to all those observing in #OH5.”

Later that day, Latta announced an opportunity for young artists: “The Congressional Art Competition is open! Enter for a chance to have your artwork hung in the nation’s Capitol. More information can be found on my website.”

Latta has represented Ohio’s 5th District since 2007 after succeeding Paul Gillmor. He previously served in both chambers of the Ohio legislature as well as on the Wood County Board of Commissioners. Born in Bluffton in 1956 and currently residing in Bowling Green, Latta holds degrees from Bowling Green State University (BA) and the University of Toledo (JD).
