State Representative Gayle Manning (R-North Ridgeville) has announced the Ohio Controlling Board has released $1 million in state funding to the Road to Hope recovery center in Elyria.

The funds will be used to convert an existing nursing home facility into a women's recovery housing complex that will treat women recovering from substance use or mental health disorders. The property currently has one building that will be converted into five separate units to provide temporary housing for women utilizing Road to Hope services.

“Organizations like the Road to Hope play a pivotal role in the lives of individuals living with addiction,” Manning said. “Their programming is key to the success of recovery, and I’m pleased the State could provide funding to help expand their operations in Lorain County.”

The Road to Hope is a drug and alcohol-free residential facility operating in Erie and Lorain counties. The facility provides an abstinence-based, twelve-step environment where people addicted to alcohol or narcotics receive support, guidance, and faith necessary to become productive members of society while living according to the Road of Hope rules and daily sobriety.

The Ohio Controlling Board is the financial legislative oversight body for capital and operating expenditures by state agencies. The next controlling board meeting is scheduled for July 29.
