Rep. Bob Latta, who represents Ohio’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed topics ranging from broadband access to veterans’ recognition and American history through a series of posts on his social media account.
On September 9, 2025, Latta posted about efforts to expand internet coverage: "Every American deserves to have access to reliable broadband. To close the digital divide, we must expand broadband access to unserved and underserved communities, especially in rural areas. That’s why I reintroduced the WIRELESS Leadership Act to streamline state and local" (September 9, 2025).
Later that day, he shared an update regarding a visit by veterans: "Veterans from across the country gathered in Washington, DC today with the Flag City Honor Flight to visit the World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War memorials. On September 10, 2025, Latta marked a historical anniversary: "#OTD in 1813, the Battle of Lake Erie took place. At the start of the War of 1812, the British navy controlled Lake Erie unchallenged. That changed on September 10, 1813, when American forces under Oliver H. Perry defeated Robert H. Barclay’s fleet off South Bass Island." (September 10, 2025).
Latta has served as Ohio's 5th district representative since succeeding Paul Gillmor in 2007 and previously held roles in both chambers of Ohio's legislature as well as local government positions. He was born in Bluffton, Ohio in 1956 and resides in Bowling Green. His educational background includes degrees from Bowling Green State University and a JD from the University of Toledo.
