Wyant Woods Healthcare Center held a 2 out of 5 overall CMS rating, below Ohio’s average rating of 3.2 among nursing homes.

Within the same period, Hickory Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center was the second largest, with 155 beds, followed by Pebble Creek Healthcare Center, which had 150 beds.

Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau indicate that the nation’s older adult population continues to rise while younger cohorts decline. Between 2020 and 2024, the U.S. population aged 65 and older saw a 13% increase, in contrast to a 1.7% decrease among those under 18. Over the past 100 years, the country’s older adult population has expanded significantly, jumping from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million by 2024.

A 2021 study found that about half of adults in this group, or nearly 28 million people, may need long-term services and support, and projects that more than one-third could eventually require nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an education group for insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
