Lorain County Announces Office Hours and Closures for Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024

Lorain County government offices have announced their operating hours and closures for the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.

The Clerk of Courts office at the Lorain County Justice Center will be open until noon on the day of the eclipse, with no court proceedings taking place. All other offices in the building will be closed for the day, and the building itself will shut its doors at noon.

Meanwhile, at the Lorain County Court House on Second Street in Elyria, no offices will be open, and the building will remain closed for the entire day.

In the Lorain County Administration Building on Middle Ave, several offices will be open until noon, including the Auditor, Auto Title, Recorder, and Treasurer. However, Children Services, Chamber of Commerce, and Port Authority will be closed. All other offices will operate from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM as usual, with the building closing at the regular time.

For other county offices and buildings, the Auto Title/Lorain Office will also be open until noon. However, facilities such as Murray Ridge Facilities, Children and Family First Council, the Collection Center, Coroner, and Office on Aging will be closed. Essential services like 9-1-1, Board of Elections, Emergency Management, Engineer, Job & Family Services, Public Health, Record Retention, Sheriff, Transit, and Workforce Development will remain open for regular hours, conducting business as usual during the solar eclipse.

Residents and employees are advised to plan their activities accordingly based on the announced office hours and closures to ensure minimal disruption during the solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.
