Congressman Bob Latta has announced that his office will hold two informational sessions for students and families in Ohio's Fifth Congressional District about the nomination and appointment process for U.S. Military Service Academies.

The first session, called Elyria Academy Night, is scheduled for Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the Transportation and Community Center located at 40 East Avenue in Elyria, Ohio. The event will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The second session, Findlay Academy Night, will take place on Thursday, October 2, 2025. It will be held at Owens Community College’s Findlay-area Campus in the Education Center Conference Room 111 at 3200 Bright Road. This meeting also starts at 7:00 p.m.

According to Congressman Latta’s office, these meetings are intended to inform potential student candidates about the congressional nomination process and provide an opportunity to meet with representatives from several academies: "U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Navy Academy at Annapolis, U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Points, and U.S. Coast Guard Academy at New London."
