State Rep. Gayle Manning | The Ohio House of Representatives
State Representative Gayle Manning has been sworn in as Speaker Pro Tempore of the Ohio House of Representatives, marking a historic moment as she becomes the first woman to hold this position in the state's history. Manning was unanimously elected by her colleagues.
In her new role, Rep. Manning will serve as the second-ranking member of the Ohio House leadership team. She will assist Speaker Matt Huffman in managing legislative operations and advancing the chamber's agenda. Her appointment is seen as a significant milestone, reflecting her commitment to serving Ohio.
“Gayle Manning is a dedicated public servant whose leadership, experience, and vision make her an excellent choice for this historic role,” said newly elected Ohio House Speaker Matt Huffman. “Her work ethic and bipartisan approach have earned the respect of her colleagues, and I look forward to working closely with her as we advance policies that benefit all Ohioans.”
Rep. Manning has a background in education and deep roots in Lorain County. Her career includes service in both the Ohio House and Senate. She has been an advocate for education reform, economic development, and community investment.
“I am deeply honored to take on this responsibility and grateful for the trust my colleagues have placed in me,” said Rep. Manning. “We have a great deal of work ahead of us in this General Assembly. I know I speak for all of my fellow members of leadership when I say that we look forward to a productive, meaningful session that will move our state forward.”
The swearing-in took place during Opening Day at the Ohio House, which set the stage for what is expected to be a productive legislative session.
