Rep. Bob Latta, who represents Ohio’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to highlight regional milestones and local events, including military anniversaries, sports achievements, and community traditions.
On August 29, 2025, Latta posted a tribute to the Marine Forces Reserve: "Today we recognize 109 years of service from the @marforres — a proud tradition of citizen-Marines who stand ready to defend our freedoms at a moment’s notice. We honor their dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to keeping America safe."
Later that day, he celebrated a local sports victory with another post: "Congratulations to the @BG_Football on their home opener victory! It was great to see the @BGSUFMB10 on the field with their 475 members. @SICSICBGSU was also at the game showing school spirit. #AyZiggy" This tweet acknowledged both Bowling Green State University’s football team and its marching band during their season opener.
In a third message dated August 29, Latta reflected on community engagement at an annual event: "The weather has been fall like for the start of the 169th Van Wert County Fair. I always enjoy working in the Farm Bureau milkshake stand as well as talking with so many fair goers and exhibitors. The fair is a true part of our region’s history. #VanWertCounty"
Latta has represented Ohio’s 5th District in Congress since replacing Paul Gillmor in 2007 and previously served in both chambers of Ohio's legislature as well as on the Wood County Board of Commissioners ([source](https://bioguide.congress.gov/search/bio/L000566)). He was born in Bluffton, Ohio in 1956 and resides in Bowling Green after graduating from Bowling Green State University in 1978 and earning his law degree from the University of Toledo ([source](https://www.latta.house.gov/about/)).
