The public comment period for the proposed changes to the State Implementation Plan under the E-Check Ease Act is now open, as announced by State Representative Gayle Manning of North Ridgeville. This proposal is part of the state's transportation budget.
Public comments can be submitted via email to DAPC-Comments@epa.ohio.gov until June 2, 2025. Following this period, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will address the comments received before forwarding the package to the U.S. EPA for further review and approval.
Manning emphasized the importance of public participation in this process: “It’s important that constituents use this opportunity to make their voices heard,” she stated. She added that it is time to reduce costs and hassle for drivers in Northeast Ohio.
The E-Check Ease Act seeks to alleviate administrative and financial burdens on Ohio drivers by offering an alternative compliance method with the E-Check program through obtaining an alternative emissions certificate.
