Recently, a bipartisan group of U.S. Representatives introduced a bill to reauthorize the Over-the-Counter Monograph Drug User Fee Amendments (OMFUA). The legislation aims to continue improving access to over-the-counter medicines.

Congressman Bob Latta expressed pride in leading the reauthorization, highlighting past efforts that modernized FDA regulations on these medicines. Congresswoman Diana DeGette emphasized the importance of building on the program's success, ensuring safe and effective access to medications.

Congressman Dan Crenshaw stated that the bill empowers the FDA for efficient reviews without compromising safety. Congresswoman Debbie Dingell stressed the significance of maintaining safe access and keeping the U.S. as a leader in health innovation.

The Consumer Healthcare Products Association endorsed the bill, with its President & CEO Scott Melville supporting efforts for self-care and expressing eagerness to work with Congress on further refinements.
