Bob Latta announces new laws targeting fentanyl crisis and rural broadband access

Rep. Bob Latta, who represents Ohio’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, announced on his Twitter account a series of legislative developments related to fentanyl regulation and agricultural broadband connectivity.

On July 17, 2025, Latta posted: "My bipartisan HALT Fentanyl Act is now law! Today, I stood alongside @POTUS as he signed this critical bipartisan legislation into law. This marks a major step forward in our fight against the opioid epidemic, cracking down on deadly fentanyl-related substances and helping save https://t.co/QR9ALdXoEp".

The following day, July 18, 2025, he highlighted another legislative milestone: "ICYMI: the House passed my bill, the Precision Agriculture Satellite Connectivity Act! Reliable broadband is essential for farmers in Ohio and the country. I’m grateful to my House colleagues for passing this bill, which will help farmers deploy fast, dependable internet and".

Later that same day, Latta returned to the subject of fentanyl with another post: "The fentanyl crisis isn’t just about overdoses—Americans are being poisoned. That’s why I’ve fought so hard to crack down on the killers. This week, the President signed my HALT Fentanyl Act into law. Check out my interview on @NEWSMAX for more. https://t.co/Rd9CPPy2Ve".

Latta has served in Congress since 2007 after succeeding Paul Gillmor. Before joining Congress, he held seats in both chambers of Ohio's state legislature and served as a county commissioner. Born in Bluffton in 1956 and currently residing in Bowling Green at age 67, Latta holds degrees from Bowling Green State University (BA) and the University of Toledo (JD).
