Rep. Bob Latta, who represents Ohio’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to address a range of topics including National Purple Heart Day, new budget legislation, and the legacy of astronaut Jim Lovell.
On August 7, 2025, Latta acknowledged the sacrifices made by military personnel on National Purple Heart Day. He stated: "Today, on National Purple Heart Day, we recognize and honor all of our nation’s servicemembers who have been injured or given their lives in defense of our country. Their courage and sacrifice remind us of the true cost of freedom, and we remain grateful for their service and https://t.co/bSIDzHibgM".
The following day, August 8, Latta commented on recent federal budget legislation signed into law by President Biden. In his post he wrote: "The most recent budget law signed by @POTUS delivers for Northern Ohio families. real tax relief lower-cost loans for our farmers, & securing our border. This law puts America first by cutting fraud & waste, boosting energy, & ensuring small businesses will grow."
Later that same day, Latta reflected on the achievements of astronaut Jim Lovell. He said: "Jim Lovell, a true American hero, inspired generations through his courage and leadership in space exploration. He inspired many through his career, including serving as mission commander of Apollo 13. From Cleveland, Ohio, Lovell paved the way for Ohioans and all Americans to".
Latta has represented Ohio's 5th district since 2007 after succeeding Paul Gillmor.
