Rep. Bob Latta, U.S. Congressman representing Ohio’s 5th district since 2007, shared a series of posts on social media reflecting on historical milestones, scientific innovation, and local community events.
On August 15, 2025, Latta commemorated the end of World War II with a post marking Victory over Japan Day. He wrote, "Eighty years ago, World War II ended with the surrender of Imperial Japan. The war cost the lives of tens of millions across the globe.
On Victory over Japan Day, we honor those who served and recommit to preserving peace, freedom, and the values they defended."
Later that day, Latta highlighted his visit to Ames National Laboratory alongside Secretary Wright, Senator Joni Ernst, Natural Resources Committee Chairman Rep. Westerman, Rep. MMM, and Rep. Ashley Hinson. He stated in his post dated August 15: "I visited the Ames National Laboratory with @SecretaryWright, @SenJoniErnst, Natural Resources Committee Chairman @RepWesterman, @RepMMM, and @RepAshleyHinson to see their cutting-edge research in materials science and energy innovation.
Our National Laboratories, like Ames,"
On August 16, Latta turned his attention to local developments in Wellington at the Lorain County Fairgrounds. He expressed appreciation for community efforts by posting: "Great to be in Wellington at the Lorain County Fairgrounds celebrating ribbon cuttings for both the Ross Exposition Center and the Maureen Cromling Memorial Arena!
Thank you to all the volunteers who made these projects happen! #LorainCounty"

Before his tenure in Congress he served in both chambers of Ohio's legislature as well as on the Wood County Board of Commissioners. Born in Bluffton in 1956 and currently residing in Bowling Green at age 67, Latta holds degrees from Bowling Green State University (BA) and the University of Toledo (JD).
